Back in September 2024, Killenagh Wanderers AFC was allocated €153,000 towards an Outdoor Astro Pitch. The pitch will facilitate matches for many of our underage teams and training for everyone. This is Stage 2 of the Club Development Plan and comes on the back of our successful Stage 1 Indoor Astro Pitch development.

It is nearly time for work to start on this exciting project and we need your help. The Club still has to raise some money to make up a shortfall in funding before we can kick off this project.

And this is where our second fundraiser of the year comes in. We are organising a Sponsored Walk for walkers of all abilities to take place on Saturday, April 19th at 11am. Pick a route that suits you and join us on the day!

What are the routes?

Route 1 (Cahore Pier -> Morriscastle -> Cahore Pier) is a more challenging route. It will start from Cahore Pier, up along the cliff walk, back down onto the beach, continue on to Old Bawn and all the way to Morriscastle, where we will turn around and trek back. This route is roughly 15km.

Route 2 (Cahore Pier -> Old Bawn-> Cahore Pier) goes from Cahore Pier, along the cliff walk, down onto the beach and on to Old Bawn, where we will turn around and head back. This is roughly 4km.

Alternatively, just join either walk at whatever point is convenient for you on the day. We will have Everyone is welcome!

So, how can you help?

Every player/family will get a sponsorship card it looks like this:

It would be really appreciated if all sponsor cards were returned FULL. This is our main fundraiser for this development and the club needs ALL members/families to participate. No cash? No problem! Any form of payment is accepted thanks to the handy QR code on the top right of the card.

Keep an eye out for our roadside signs dotted around the area:

If you see one, consider sharing a pic with friend and family group chats, on your Instagram/Facebook/Snapchat/WhatsApp stories and get everybody talking about the walking! The more people we reach, the greater chance we have to secure a facility that will have a hugely positive impact on our club.
